Welcome! If you're just joining us, Gabbing with Gays is a site-specific, audiovisual tour of Emotional Intimacy in the LGBTQIA community. Audience members will follow this Google Map to find QR codes. When you get there, you will scan the code, watch, listen, and be invited to join the discussion. Please see our demo video and other FAQs below!

Q: How does the event work?

A: If you're doing the in-person option, you will follow the Google Map to the specific locations. When you get to each location, you will scan a QR code and will be directed to an audio or video piece. When the piece is done, you will have the option of interacting with it if you choose. Please see the video below as well.

Q: What about the virtual version?

A: The artist will go live on Instagram (@gabbing_with_gays) each day at 2pm NYC time at a specified location on the walking tour. The artist will host a discussion and Q&A about Emotionally Intimate topics.

Q: I'm not sure if my phone scans QR codes. Can I still participate?

A: Of course. The Google Map with the QR code locations also has links to the specific pieces as a backup.

Q: How long is the event?

A: The walk is approximately 1.5 miles in length from start to finish. If you do it without stopping, you should be able to complete it in about an hour.

Q: Are there bathrooms along the way?

A: Yes, there are many. You can always use the bathroom (and grab a beverage) at some of the participating businesses, such as PJ Leahy's, Rockaway Brewing, Big aLICe, and Iconyc. There is also a public bathroom near the Pepsi-Cola sign in Gantry State Park.

Q: I already purchase a ticket for May 2nd, but May 1st is better for me. Can I change my day?

A: Of course! Just email gabbingwithgays@gmail.com.

Q: How much are tickets?

A: Tickets are pay what you wish. Please note that ticket sales will ensure participants are reimbursed for their time and contributions.

Q: What if it rains?

A: We're hoping that April showers bring May flowers, but in the event of rain, PJ Leahy's, Rockaway Brewing, Big aLICe, and Iconyc have covered seating. Most of the other locations are also near shelter of some kind. Please note that all of the content is also available on this Google map, and that you can always return on a future day.
